How to get to Orcas Island

From Seattle it’s about a two hour drive to Anacortes, Wash. The ferry to Orcas Island leaves from there. Take I-5 north and get off at State Route 20 westbound. When you drive through the town of Anacortes look for the signs to the ferry dock.  If you’re coming down from Bellingham it’s about an hour drive to the Anacortes ferry dock.  The ferry trip to Orcas Island takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes. It is a really nice ride that will give you time to unwind and enjoy the scenery before you hop aboard our boat.  Washington State Ferries website is  www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries.

Or you can fly up either by San Juan Air, www.sanjuanairlines.com  or take a float plane, www.kenmoreair.com,  right to our dock in Deer Harbor or Rosario Resort. It’s about a 45 minute flight from Seattle to Orcas Island.  Flying over these spectacular islands will be sight you will never forget. If you happen to see whales from the plane on your way up here, let us know.

If you plan on taking the ferry for a day trip up here plan accordingly. If it’s the weekend get on the ferry line at least 1.5 hours ahead of time.  To get to us you’ll need your car once you’re on Orcas Island. We are about seven miles from the ferry dock. We recommend taking an earlier ferry and exploring the island. It’s not a big island so you can explore most of it in a couple of hours.

We also recommend that instead of doing everything in a day,  you stay the night in one of the inns or hotels on the island either before or after your tour with us. It would amount to a two day getaway that will refresh and recharge you.
