Deer Harbor Charters - Whale Watching in the San Juan Islands!

We invite you to share the photo album of a return passenger's cruise with us.
Enjoy!

Dear Tom - Another 5 days spent on the water with you and James and another book of pictures. Kirk even added some narrative this year as to our locations and sightings. Again, thank you for another fabulous week and we look forward to more! - Kirk and Mary Kennedy, Chandler, AZ, September 2002
Day 1
9/9/02
(On Squito) -

Capt. Clark was successful in finding the whales on our first day on the water; however, the best days were yet to come.

Day 2
9/10/02
(On Squito) -

Day 2 saw some spectacular action just west of False Bay. Multiple breeches, spy hops and some flipper action were observed.

Note: As James and Tom will tell you, when an Orca breeches, it usually does so twice. Therefore, be patient, you may be able to capture the breech on film or at least capture a wonderful memory.

Day 3
9/11/02
(On Cetacea) -

All the resdient pods (J, K & L) were out of the area this day. However, Tom had heard the Offshore Orcas had been spotted, and we found them far out in the Haro Strait. This was a special treat as Tom had not seen these whale in this area for several years. The Offshore Orcas weren't as active as the residents, but we did see a number of young whales with their mothers.

Day 4
9/12/02
(On Squito) -

The Orcas (L12) were on the west side of San Juan Island again. This time we found them around the Lime Kiln Point Lighthouse and Whale Watch Park, making for a nice background. (Tom and Cetacea were also in the area.)

Day 5
9/13/02
(On Squito) -

An incredible day!

We found L12 southwest of San Juan Island, just off Cattle Point. They were "lounging" in the are and were met by J, K and the remaining L pods who were coming up from the south, creating a "Super Pod"!

Words can't describe the experience.
