Photo of J-1 Ruffles breaching

Monday, July 13th, 2009

Karen Fontaine took a trip with us last week and really didn’t expect to get the photo she got. It is a spectacular photo of Ruffles (J-1) breaching near our boat. She was pointing the camera in the right direction and out of the water blasted Ruffles. Bear in mind that Ruffles is going on 60 years old and  still shows off his tremendous strength and power. It is not every day that we see Ruffles go ballistic.   The last time I saw him breach was a few years ago. What a guy!!

It has been a wonderful two weeks of sightings since my last report. We have had J, K and L pod here most of those days. Plus the fact that we have had some of the nicest weather in the country with  lots of sun and warm temperatures.

This photo was taken by Robery Swanke during one of our trips.  It appears to be one of our teenage males moving swiftly. It almnost looks like he is trying to fly. Thank you for the photo. Keep them coming.
