Taiji officials: Dolphin meat ‘toxic waste’ (Japan Times)

The Japan Times reported on August 1, 2007 that two Taiji assemblymen have found extremely high mercury and methylmercury levels in samples of meat from pilot whales killed inshore by Taiji hunters. The meat is being sold to supermarkets in that area and also to local schools for children’s lunches.
